I disagree. I have a '95 525iT - all were delivered w/ automatic - and I bought the Jim C chip. You're not going to win any drag races but there is a difference off the line, smoother power delivery, and superb highway passing ability. Fuel ecomony is excellent. One trip from Martha's Vinyard to NYC I averaged a fraction over 25mpg according to the OBC - with two bikes on top!

Plus, the Jim C chip is hardly a gamble considering its low cost. Only downside is that you must use premium fuel.

Good Luck.

'95 525iT

: I talked to Turner Motorsports & was told that the Jim C. chip in an Auto 525 is not really worth doing because the car is so heavy. The extra hp gained wouldn't be noticable with the auto tranny. A manual tranny 525i or 535 would be a better canidate for the Jim C. mod.

: : If I put a performance chip in a '95 525i with automatic transmission, do I need to do anything to the transmission?
