Mike,

While it is true that the Bentley manual is far more comprehensive and thorough, I find the Haynes manual interesting enough to peruse now and then.

Haynes covers 3 and 5 series in one slim book but if you only plan on doing basic maintenance, it is worth buying at $5.

What I'm saying, is, get both. You'll always have Bentley as a backup if you run into trouble.
