: Maybe someone out there has delt with this problem before. When I'm in first or second gear at about 5000 RPMs or more if I abruptly let off the gas I hear a slight klunck sound, like a bump from a rubber hammer under the car. I had the engine mounts changed about 10Kmiles ago, but the shop never said anything about the trans mount looking bad. I wonder if this could be the problem. Has anyone had the trans mount replaced? How may mile did you go before needing to replace it? I'm at 110Kmiles now. Any other ideas or things to look for before I crawl under the car? Thanks for the help!!!
If the sound comes from under the rear seat area of your car then it's probably the sub-frame bushings. I just replaced mine after a similar noise problem. They rot out over time if driven in snow/salt. E-mail me for more details.
