: Well, it turns out that noise I've been experiencing has been just gear rattle. Apparantly a normal thing, just something a 135k car does. Switching from 90 wt oil to synthetic just made the sound more apparant, that's also why it gets worse after driving, the oil warms up and thins out. So, anyone switching to Redline ATF, just beware, this may happen, not necessarily a bad thing.

Tim,

I dont think that's normal. I use Redline MTL and my '89 has 116k with no gear noise or rattle except when the car is shut off. Then it klunks for a half-second when the motor turns off. This I read is normal for manual trannies. Mabye your gears are worn more than average.

Jeff
