Hi Bruce,

If you trust the mechanic and believe that the internals are all in working order, I would go for a good 'ole filter and fluid change. Now, onto the ever popular "But don't I have a lifetime fill transmission" debate. Yes, you probably do, but they can be flushed and it may cure the internal sticking problem that You are having. Before that, You may want to kill the battery overnight. You have one of those fancy computer controlled trannies that stores drivers preferences on driving style, coffee, beer, etc... and emptying the memory may also help. Good Luck.

Best,
Rory
'90 525i -- Not so fancy tranny where I control the shifts!!

: WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, IT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST FOR A QUARTER MILE REGARDLESS OF WHAT SPEED THE CAR IS TRAVELING. AFTER THE FIRST SHIFT IT PERFORMS CORRECTLY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS. THE MECHANIC HAS PUT THE CAR ON 2 DIFFERENT MACHINES TO TEST IT AND BOTH COMPUTERS FIND NO PROBLEM.

: ANY HELP? PLEASE ADVISE.
