I am seriously looking at a 1992 525i Touring. The car is immaculate, the only thin I can see wrong is the information display seems a little splashed out. I have looked at the service records up until 1996 and 72k miles and it looks like the car hit every scheduled service. But they stop in Jan '97. I have no idea what the car has done since then. It now has 110,000 miles on it.
I've looked through the archives. I realize that the 93 with the M50 motor is ideal. These Tourings are very hard to come by. I plan on getting an independant evaluation of the vehicle. If that evaluation comes up with no major problems, and if I can get this car for around 12,000, should I take the deal?
I know, without seeing the car, it's impossible to know. But, given the fact that this seems like a pretty good price, and the fact that these cars are sooooo hard to find, should I just take this one and the $1000/ year maintanence costs, or should I wait and hope a 93 comes up, which probably won't happen for a year or two....
Or, are the maintanence costs on these pre-M50 not worth the risk. Even if it means driving a Nissan Maxima for the next 4 years....
