Thanks for the response. The opinions seem pretty much unanimous that the J.C. chip is the way to go. I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

: Hi Bill,

: I do not know of any magazines or periodicals that have tested a Jim C. chip next to another (Dinan or Autothority). I do have personal experience with Jim C. chips as well as others (not for yoru M30, sorry), but I can honestly say that they are the best. The peak gains in HP and Torque may be better with a Dinan, but Jim C chips really smooth out your torque curve and give you plenty of punch all the way through the rev band. Makes the car much more driveable. Uncle Phil claims that his M50tu feels almost like an M30 with his chip. There are plenty of guys on the board that have them, seem to be the overall unanimous choice no matter what engine you have. They do have a 30 day money back quarantee if You are not satisfied. Best $250 you will ever spend on your car. Good Luck.

: : I have worked my way back through several threads in the archives but still find no reference to where to find a published (independent) test of the J. Conforti chip in a early E34 (mine is an '89 535i). The only test I see referred to is in Car and Driver but looks to be a different (newer) car. Can anyone help me?

: : Thanks,
