: I've been driving a '92 525iT since 10/98. I purchased one with 55K miles for $15,200. I now have around 90K miles.
: I may be incorrect, but I believe the motor designation is M50. The '92 motors just don't have the Vanos systems of the later years.
: I would take a very close look at one with 110K miles and a slow moving sunroof. My sunroof moved quite slowly until it died. I am looking at around $2K to fix it.
: These cars also have a few problems with the dash instrumentation. My speedo and tach do not function correctly until the car is started with a warmed-up interior. Good in summer, not now.
: Check if the plastic water pump was replaced with a metal one. Not a difficult job but a shop can charge a bit on this one.
: Ask if the front suspension & steering has been maintained. My steering is vague and wanders on uneven roads. Thrust arms are on order for my Touring.
: Horsepower is not abundant on the '92. but it is adequate for getting around town. I have a reservation with my local BMW wizard for a Spring Break supercharger installation.
: I would offer a bit lower than $13K. Offering $12K would leave some in reserve for the inevitable repairs.
: Good luck.
