I have had my 91 535i (66K miles) for about two weeks, and have been noticing the same thing. The car idles at about 750-800 rpm. I noticed it when my car seemed to be a little loud when stopped at lights (gear in D), and brakes fully depressed.

My mechanic thought that the valves must be too tight, and said she will adjust them when I bring it in for the next oil change.

: I've got an 89 535i (had it a couple of weeks). With the transmission (auto) in the 'Drive' position, it seems like the car pulls forward pretty hard without gas applied. In other words, with foot on brake, car in Drive, lift brake pedal and car picks up speed quite easily. Is this common in these cars? Is it adjustable? Any ideas? Car has 102,000 miles on it.

: Thanks
