I just became the proud owner of a 94 530i, but it had one problem, it would not switch over to the "snowflake position" to start in 3rd gear. My mechanic mentioned the memory of the transmission, and proceeded to pull the Transmission brain and unplug it, he then waited about 1-2 minutes and plugged it back in, and viola', all was well. He sais that new blazers will do the same and forget how to go into 4 wheel drive if it isn't turned on for a few months. This is the easiest test you can do. I feel it is a 1 beer job.
: WHEN THE CAR IS COLD, IT WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 1ST FOR A QUARTER MILE REGARDLESS OF WHAT SPEED THE CAR IS TRAVELING. AFTER THE FIRST SHIFT IT PERFORMS CORRECTLY UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS. THE MECHANIC HAS PUT THE CAR ON 2 DIFFERENT MACHINES TO TEST IT AND BOTH COMPUTERS FIND NO PROBLEM.
: ANY HELP? PLEASE ADVISE.
