To add to the other posts, I believe that the electric fan runs at low speed whenever the A/C is "on" (button pushed) and at high speed when the compressor is actually engaged. So the fan speed cycles with the compressor. In addition, the 2-tier coolant temp switch will also activate the 2 speeds when needed.
