So many have asked about the article that I'm going back to Border's and buying it. I will post the info ASAP.

: OK, maybe I'm showing my lack of experience. I get Roundel, but what is BMW Magazine and where do I get it (I'm planning a wheel tire upgrade and wand to read the article you refer to)?
: : The latest issue of BMW Car magazine has an entire article devoted to the larger tire/wheel concept. The author didn't think too much of it in terms of a real performance increase. One of the biggest reasons was expense and weight, namely of the unsprung kind.. My own experience is that I bought 17 inch wheels because there were very limited high performance tire choices in the 225/60/15 size. You lose an inch and a half of sidewall height going from 15 to 18. I don't think that would be a good idea in an urban area like NYC, where I live. I'm staying with 16" on my 328.
