: I don't think the dealer does any extensive tests or goes over the vehicle thoroughly when they get the car back from the first owner. Yes they changed the oil and the drive belts, but my car had a warped front brake rotor that they didn't notice. When I took it for the test drive, I informed them about it and all 4 rotors was replaced under the orig warranty. I also had a front speaker and window switch replaced. They shampooed the carpets/floor mats, but the glove box was not cleaned out. I don't think they make it "like-new" as they advertise on TV.
: : I bought my '94 525 in 1997 after it came off the original lease at a dealer. They wanted $1600 to have the car certified pre-owned. I still had 1 year left on the orig manufacturers warranty and I chose not to do it. Within what would have been the 2-yr certified period, I paid $1400 to have the A/C fixed. I asked the dealer if this would have been covered in the extended warranty. He said yes. I'm still ahead $200, but it's probably worth it.
: : : I would like opinions on the cost to associate with the certified pre-owned plan. I want this figure to help me figure out a fair price for a car that I am looking at. Also, I would like any feedback on the program itself.
: : : Thanks!
