: Sometimes I wash my '94 525ia in the evening. The next morning the car will idle like crap for a couple minutes. Obviously humidity or condensation is causing something to get wet.
: Anyone have a clue what the actual problem is? No codes are getting set. I'm not washing the motor. The car is garaged FWIW.

I had this problem on out '93 325i, a couple of years ago. There were several letters sent in to the Roundel "Tech Talk" describing this same problem. Many parts had been replaced by the dealer to several of the problem cars without fixing the problem. It was later determined by BMW NA, that starting & running the engine for a very short time, like pulling out of the garage to wash & pulling it back in, did not allow some of the electronics to reset, if memory serves me right. The solution was to let the car run for at least 2-3 minutes before shutting it off.
I did this exact thing one weekend. Pulled the car out & washed it, pulled back into the garage. Then went out of town on Monday & when I cam home, my wife said that the car would not start. I got in it, and sure enough, it wouldn't start with the first twist of the key. I went back later, cranking it for 20-30 sec. & pushing the gas petal to the floor. It finally started, spit & sputtered for a bit and then cleared itself up. I let it run for a couple on min., turned it off and never had the problem again. I think if you search the Roundels for '96-'97, you might find the articles I mentioned.
Hope this helps.
