Search the board archives. This comes up regularly and you will find everything you want to know about the E34. Control arm bushings are a concern around 60k and the very obvious fully documented service history for the car also. 535 5spd is THE car for performance, IMHO the 5spd 525 gives sprightlier performance over the slushbox but a JC chip put's it up there in almost 535 territory (with less torque).

The later models are great cars with no major vices....and the older models have well documented shortcomings.
