Cost sounds about right. I own a 91 535 5-speed and I can tell you there are very few options out there for easy HP. I think about trading up for a used M3 but I like the space in my 5. One concern I would have is how long an engine with 68,000 miles would last after supercharging. Need a Guinea Pig?

: I have been considering developing a supercharger kit for the E34 535i. I'm typically more involved with turbocharged engine development, but my take on driving the E34 (as an owner) is that a twisted-roots or screw supercharger would be a better mate than a turbo. I think an inexpensive low-boost (5-7psi) non-intercooled system might be best, since these cars are coming down in value and nobody wants to get too upside-down on what they have invested in a car. What are some other opinions? Would a 100-125hp kit be attractive in the $3,000-$3,500 range? Is there a market? Does anybody know how many M30 equipped E34's were made?
