: The only time that you should wax your car is IMMEDIATELY AFTER WASHING IT! To suggest doing it with some product that has the words "dry wash" in the name sends chills down my spine! Even after a good wash, a car begins collecting a fine layer of dirt after only hours. Don't believe me? Next time you wax your car and get a good shine on it, wait a few hours and then go out and drag your finger down the paint. You will now observe fine scratches from the dirt that was trapped under your finger. To attempt to wax a car without washing if first will result in creating these scratches over the entire surface.

: I've used a couple of products on my car that I can guarantee will produce exceptional results. After the above mentioned wash, use 3M Liquid Polish- Clearcoat Safe (part #-05993). You'll have to find an autoparts store that sell 3M paint products to obtain a bottle. This polish is extremely fine and can be applied by hand or orbital buffer. I use an orbital buffer to apply it to my car and it makes the finish as smooth as glass.

: Once I've removed the polish, I follow it up with a coat of Blitz carnuba wax. This wax goes on easy, shines great and lasts for a pretty good while. I bought mine from BMP Design.

: If you're looking for a wax job that's a little quicker, I would recommend Meguiar's products. Before I started using the products above, I used Meguiars for years with great results. They have a combination cleaner/wax that should produce above average results if you're not willing to spend the 3-4 hours it takes to polish and wax as I've described above.

: But whatever you do, WASH THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEFORE WAXING!!! Otherwise, you'll just be grinding lots of surface dust into your paint. I can't stand to bear the thought of that.
