Thanks for the tip. I was able to determine that the coolant leak was originating from the overflow tubing that comes off the top of the expansion tank. It leads around the firewall and dumps the coolant near the fender well. I was able to see the tell-tale wet stains start right at the end of this tubing. However, while the leaking has subsided (the level is normal?), the whining noise is still there. So I will have to check into that auxiliary pump you mentioned. Thanks!
