: HI,

: I was just thinkin bout gettin a E 34 . read a few posts that said to get an m50 motor. How do you tell?

: Thanks

many differences but an easy way to tell is to look at the intake manifold. an m50 intake will be painted black and sits on the left side of the engine, while an m20 has a silver(non painted) intake and curls up over the valve cover. (this only pertains to the 2.5 liter. the 3.5 liter engine will look like an m20 engine) hope this helps
