Maybe the radiator had been repaired in the past with one of those leak stopper products. They seem to work okay only when you fill up the cooling system with water and a small quantity of coolant. If you fill up with the recommended percentage of coolant the leak stopper products seem to dissolve and the leak comes back. I tried different brands of leak stopper and coolant in the past but the leak came back. Coolant just seems to be too agressive for these leak stoppers.
A new radiator (aftermarket but identical to the BMW part) should cost less than $150.
Luc.
