I own a 1994 530ia (ZF 5HP-18EH transmission) that the transmission went out on it with the first owner at about 15,000 miles. From dealer warranty service records, the car apparently was stuck on the side of the road and had to be towed in. They replaced the transmission and it has not had any further problems (approx. 80,000 miles on car). This was an early production car, as its original date of production was 5/93.
