OZ Monte Carlo/Stock 15" Wheel & Tire Questions (archive)

Posted by Dahveed on March 12, 2000 at 20:36:57:

I have a '91 525ia, and it has the stock 15x7 et20 wheels, and 205/65 Pirelli P600/P6000 tires.

The tires are wearing down, and I've been looking for tire options in 205/65, and there isn't much available for good tires.

I've seen in the archives that some are using 225/60-15 tires, are they using the stock 15x7 wheels? Are 225/60 tires too wide for the stock wheels, and too low for decent speedo accuracy and gas mileage? What are some good tires out there in 225/60?

What is the best tire size compromise for performance with the stock 15" wheels?

Also, who out there is using O.Z. Racing Monte Carlo 5-star alloy wheels? Are they available in 16" and 17" in widths & offsets to fit a '91 525ia w/stock suspension?

I see on the cover of the new Roundel, Editor Yale Rachlin's silver '94 525i with what looks to be 16" OZ Monte Carlos. I called the tire rack, and they said they don't fit my car. Is this BS?

Please help, I'm tired of these worn touring tires!!!

TIA,

Dave Savell
