I bought a 90 525 about 6 months ago. I was worried about the purchase because it had over 150,000 miles on it, but it had every record known on it and was well cared for. After having it for a while now this is the best car I have ever had. For it being 10 years old it is much better than I ever thought it would be. I service it on its correct intervals, and have only replaced the fuel pump, which cracked in half. I will take those repairs any day! The transmission had me worried as well but this one now has 167,000 miles on it and not a lick of trouble from day one.

: I work for a Saab dealer and we recently had an '89 535i traded in. The car is one owner and is in very good shape with 96K on the odometer. After looking through all the current postings, I didn't notice anyone with an automatic. Is this because they are unreliable or is it that most people prefer a 5-speed? I own an '89 Saab 9000S now which has actually been pretty reliable so I'm understandably a little nervous about stepping up to BMW which will most likely cost a lot more to repair then my 9000 (I can get parts at cost and service cheap.) Thanks for any suggestions or opinions. By the way, I should be able to pick the car up for $7000.
