'90 525i Gasoline Question (archive)

Hey All,

I was talking to my Aunt last weekend who is selling her '92 325iC (M20 engine) for a new X5. She was saying how gas is going to put her in the poor house because she is using 87 octance now. So, I comment on how my manual says to put in 91 or higher octane. But, now I remember that my manual is for a '91 5 series, so I am wondering, have I been waisting my money for all this time with 93 octane gas when I can put in the cheap stuff?? Can anyone with an M20 or an '89 or '90 confirm the for me please. Thanks in advance.
