coolant loss? (archive)

I noticed recently that I have to top off my coolant about every six months,and I also began to notice a small oil puddle developing in my garage. I would like to ask our knowledgeable fellow enthusiast whether these are normal ageing nuisance for a 1995 525I or are they some cause for worry. Mel. Thanks in advance for any comments or advice.
