Can't remove the damn OBC... shouldn't this be EZ? (archive)

I am trying to take the OBC out of my mom's car, I think a few of the backlight bulbs are shot, but I can't get it out! That lever WILL NOT move! Any idea? I've pulled and pulled, my fingertips have dents in them, but it won't COME OUT! Argh. Any advice would definitely be appreciated, I don't feel like tearing the dash apart!
