: I finally got my wagon back from the dealership/shop. It was in for two items: to have them correct their control-arm blunder -- when they replaced the thrust-arm bushings, they're reinstalled the control arms L-R backwards, and to check into some tranny problems.
: I'd mentioned that the would occasionally hunt while in drive when the engine was under some load (like on a slight grade). There was a TSB out for that one, a failed seal that would block a passage. Another symptom is that it would take a bit for reverse to engage in the morning.
: Both problems were corrected, they covered the control-arm fix and my warranty covered the transmission work. But, since the bill broke $1000, they insisted on having an adjuster come out to inspect the parts... that slowed the repair a day or so.
: Anyway, when I picked up the car I mentioned to the service writer that the warranty company is probably tired of hearing from me (radiator, powerseat, waterpump, transmission). He responded by telling me about someone with a 750iL that required $11,000 (yes, $11k) worth of work. Their warranty company paid up but then bought the policy back from the buyer... something they apparently reserve the right to do.
: So, for the past week, I've been driving my Z3 roadster around (luckly had very nice weather), but it still felt nice to drive the 5'er again... especially on the freeway... it's sooooo smooth.

my control arms were just replaced on a 95 with 96 k miles, but were done correctly, at least i think so at this point in time. understand that there were two transmissions used in the it's at that time. i don't know the exact numbers of both, but you may want to check at bmw site to get exact transmissions that were used. mine seems to be doing great. jay
