1990 535 5 speed Speedometer intermitent (archive)

I loose my speedometer signal every once in a while, anyone know what is loose?
I heard the signal comes from the ABS system, but
haven't read anything about finding the problem. I haven't taken it to the dealer because it works 70% of the time... irritating..
