idle erratic and dies (archive)

1991 e34 m50
Idle erratic mostly too high but dies at times on decel or take off. Cleaned throttle body and idle air valve. Installed new idle air valve idles good but dies immediantly when a/c is turned on. Reinstalled old valve. Any suggestions,thanks!
