e32 upper shock mount reinforcement project
My 92 has a fatigued upper shock mount that has lead to stress cracks of about 2" across running by the out side of the most in board bolt hole on the mounting point. I am in the midst of designing steel plates to fit the exact dimensions where they mount to the chassis on the top and the bottom to sandwich the metal, reinforcing it, as well as distributing the load.
My questions are;
1. Will raising the rear by the thickness of the steel plate (approximately 1/8" thick steel) affect handling so much as to cause unwanted over steer?
2. Is welding in a case like this suggested, or will bolting it in suffice?
