Let me know what you find out. I have an M20 '89 525i that could use a little boost as well. My car has 180K, but the engine has less than 15K due to a timing belt failure and resulting new engine installation. It's my belief that it should be o.k. if boost is kept to a reasonable level and your engine is generally sound. Turbos present heat problems, Nitrous can be dangerous if you use too often, but Supercharging appears to be the ticket (though costly). The way I see it, you usually want a slightly lower compression with Positive manifold pressure, but then again, maybe wear and carefully planned lower compression are different animals.
