More gas to start? Hmm? You shouldn't have to apply any gas to an motronic fuel managed engine to start it. I'd look into problems if you're not getting a full stable start in normal operating warmth in say 3 or 4 revolutions without any gas pedal play. Old jetronic mechanical fuel injected cars required some gas pedal play when they got out of tune but you shouldn't be dealing with it in your vintage bimmer.
