My 1994 540i "Ultimate Driving Machine" is fast becoming an "Ultimate Maintenance Machine". I needed to replace the radiator last week and the dealership wanted $660 for the radiator. I found one locally at Arizona Autohaus for $220. When I took it to my independent BMW mechanic we found that it had been assembled wrong and had the mount brackets on top instead of on bottom. I called Autohaus and they sent a driver over to the BMW dealer to get another one. Guess what? It is the exact same radiator! Turns out this place supplies the dealership with the part. This one was installed with no problems and with labor total cost was around $350. This was almost a third of what the local stealer quoted me. It pays to shop around!
