Got that shakes when you accelerate thing going on in my 89 535i. It's progressed to a slight but definitely noticable high speed vibration at highway speeds, so it's time to fix it. I think I'm going to replace the whole shaft as it's quite a project to get in there to change just the center bearing, and I have been told that center bearing failure is quite often a symptom of u-joint problems. I am wondering what any of you may have to say about re-built shafts vs. new from BMW. The dealer wants $660.00 for a new one minus the 15% BMWCCA discount. I'd rather spend the extra cash on a BMW shaft than have to tear it all apart again due to using a rebuilt. Any experiences good or bad with rebuilts??? I also figure I'll replace the rear transmission mount at the same time.
