: So from what I have gathered I am still stuck with the generic thin 4 spoke airbag wheel that came on my 90 535i. There is nothing from overseas that will bolt in its place airbag or not? The biggest issue I see is the depth of the wheel, all the control stalks are moved away and back to account for the depth of the airbag wheel. I was told that I would have to get a column out of an 89 non-airbag car to do any type of wheel swap.

I have the wheel you're looking at. I don't _think_ that there is any difference in the placement of the control stalks or in the column. The wheel has quite a depth to it, and it simply presses over a spline on the steering column and gets bolted on. I need to use a 6 inch extension on my ratchet spanner to get to the bolt.

Could you get the wheel on approval, on the understanding that you can return it in perfect condition if it doesn't fit, for a refund?

Alternatively, perhaps there is a Momo or SAAS kit for the E34. Usually, you buy the wheel, and get a "boss" kit to suit.

Of course, I don't know what the legalities about disabling SRS are in you neck of the woods.

Paul
