In addition to the micro-filter being clogged, the resistor pack is also probably blown.I've had to do both in my 530i. The pack is on the left side of the console. Remove the carpeted panel to get @ it. The resistor was about $39.The "fun" part is removing the panel above the pedals in order to have clearence to get @ everything. Good Luck.
