After test driving a 1995 525i for my sister the other day, I decided that it's time to replace the rear subframe bushings in my 1991 535i. Even with 17" tires, R & D sway bars, and Bilsteins, my 535i isn't even close to having the same handling responsiveness as the newer car. With my car, the rear end always seems like it's a half a step behind the front.
Some mystery person was good enough to fax me a diagram of the rear suspension today, so now I have a much clearer idea of what I'm up against. If anyone out there has replaced their own subframe bushings lately, I'd love to hear how you did it. I'd also like to know if anyone has replaced the single bushing located at the very rear of the subframe? I'm going to try to get the parts and do the replacement over the Easter weekend. I'd appreciate all input. I'll check this board for posts or you can e-mail me direct by clicking on my name above.
