: What can I expect after 110kmiles? I would rather not wait untill it is slipping and frying my flywheel before changing it. Is there some kind of inspection port that can be used to see how much the clutch has worn? Taking off hard from a stand still does not feel as crisp as it did 15kmiles ago. Any information would be helpful. How much in labor and parts? I have found OEM kits for $200USD. The part numbers seem to be the same as the e36 325i. How about a performance clutch for a e36. Any one out there try a performance clutch?

My E34 535i was replaced at 85k, but I know another guy who has a '87 (e28) with 200k+ on his original clutch (with a very stiff pedal though!). They are very long lived if you don't abuse them. Cost should be 2-300.00 + like 6-7 hours labor.
