Different Tire Diameter Front/Rear - Is it OK?? (archive)

I just got a set of 17" wheels (Thanks Drew!), and 2 of them have 235/45 tires on them (MXX3s). I bought 2 more matching MXX3s, but found that they are 235/40, not 235/45. This gives a difference in diameter of about 1", and a 3.5% difference in rolling circumference.

Car is a '90 535, with ABS but does not have traction control. Any thoughts on whether this tire size difference will be a problem??

Quick responses appreciated, as I have a narrow window to return the 2 tires....
