Hi all!
Recently, I went to the local BMW parts counter to purchase a transmission filter kit for my '89 535i. After checking the parts catalog on micro, the parts guy tells me that he doesn't see a filter listed and calls over the tech that confirms this by saying, "That's all we do on an inspection 2, is drain and refill." "Are you having any trouble with it shifting?" I assured him it shifted fine, it was just overdue for a change and I assumed it required a filter. The tech then checks his tech-books and tells me it does have a small cleanable filter but unless it is giving any shifting problems to go ahead and just change the fluid. Assuring me that is all they do on an inspection 2 on the 4HP 22 transmissions. Is he right or not?
