They use a rubber blanket over the wings. So they can lean on it.
I haven't tried it on a BMW, but I used to sit on the wings with my feet & legs inside the engine compartment on an Alfa I had. (very many gaskets replaced)


: I spent most of last Saturday leaning over the engine bay changing the cam cover gaskets of my 530 an , apart from the usual Bentley oversights it was fairly straight forward. But my back is now killing me. How the hell do the grease monkey's in the service shops do this all day without being in traction ?
