Buying Advice? '95 525i, 530i, or 540i?? (archive)

I have an '89 525i (5spd) and love the car. Have a new baby and looking to update to last year of the E34 with an automatic transmission. Not sure of which model to buy for long term reliability and performance.

Any advice would be appreciated.
