How to protect paint? (archive)

Hi All,
I have a 89 535IA (dark blau) and want to know how to properly protect the paint job from the harsh climates of sunny Australia. The car is never garaged and is mostly exposed to the climate. I wash it every weekend but I am looking for a product that can give it a extra coating of protection. Maybe a wax or something. I love to clean my car and time isn't a issue. The climate here is up to 40 oC in summer and about 5 oC in winter with a lot of frost.
