I repaired mine without replacing. I found that the contacts on the resistor element are held together by a copper rivet. The failure point is the copper rivet loosens up. I backed up the rivet on one side with the side of a hammar then used a screw driver and another hammer to bang the edges of the rivet on the top side. The rivet tightened up and contact was re-established.
Has been working for 6 months now.
