HELP!! TRANS Problem! ZF 4HP22 (archive)

That god damm transmisson is giving me trouble. Car is a 1989 535I (90,000miles). This problem just started. When the gear selector is D the car will not upshift properly in all gears. It hold the gear until I back off the gas or if I push the selector forward with my hand so it's closer to N. When it is in the 3 postion it is fine, and shifts normal. What the hell is going on?? PLease help!!!
