E34 Governor? (archive)

Well, today I took out my 95 540i 6sp out on the highway. The driving conditions were perfect so I took advantage of that. I opened up the car to 210km/h (130.49 mph). To my surprise at that speed the engine cut out. I thought there was something wrong with the car. At any rate I tried it again and realized that at exactly 210 km/h the engine rpms would drop suddenly and then slowly climb back up. Can anyone tell me if there is a governor on this vehicle and is there something available i.e. computer chip or after market part that would override the governor?
