Update: I took my car to have Inspection II done today and I told them about the headrest problem. After looking at it, they told me that gear box and cable failed and are broken. The cost will be $395.00 and that probably does not include labor. I am just wondering how can that be when the headrest stills go up if the gear box and cable are broken and have to be replaced? When I picked the car up this afternoon, I noticed that the headrest now does not go up either! The top portion of the driver's seat, where my back rests against, now moves considerably (wobbling), before I took the car in it did not move by itself. Any ideas on what they did to my car would be greatly appreciated. I am 17, and after being hit up $740.00 for Inspection II, I don't feel like allowing them to put in a new gearbox and cable only to see them further destroy my seat, because I am saving up for new wheels. On a definitely related topic, how much could I sell a '94 530 with 56,000 miles, all the options, and absolutely perfect except for a newly non-functional driver's-side headrest and little 1-inch long streak of paint on the back bumper from where one of BMW's great valets backed it into a Taurus. Also how much do 91-93 8-series' usually go for.
