Mine does this too. Sometimes it will even set of the "Max Speed" warning (mine's set at 85).

Every once in a while the cruise control will surge, probably for the same reason.

Had a dealer look at it but could find nothing wrong.

'90 535i(m) 227,000 miles and going strong...

: Twice recently i have noticed the speedometer spike up to around 30 mph while i was rolling up at a stop light. I didn't notice anything else happening on the dash, but I only caught the spike out of the corner of my eye. Any insight would be appreciated.
