: I am getting a petrol smell on my 92 525i Touring estating when it starts from cold. Had a look in all the usual places but cannot find any leaks evident. Seems ok when warm. Does anybody have any ideas. Many thanks.

I have a '92 sedan with M50 163K miles and have similar "odor" at cold start ups, my mechanic saids it's antifreeze problem caused by the head gasket leaking into the engine. Monitor your coolant level, if itz sipping coolant, your gasket is the problem
