As the owner of a used 94 530i allow me to let all of you in on a few secrets ...1). the 6 yr/100k warranty applies from the date of service, this means it starts the day the car is purchased... not when the engine was replaced. if your engine is replaced, as mine was, it means absolutely nada. You will get a 2yr/50k or the remainder of the 6 year whatever is more. This translates to although my engine was replaced approx. 8k miles ago, my warranty has expired and I am not covered for anything on what is basically a barely broken in engine, thats is beginning to leak oil. 2). a pre purchase inspection is worth absolutely nothing. The dealership that supposedly did mine, Competition Motors in Greenwich Ct., reported back no major problems, and on their recommendation I bought the car....now 1 month and $5000 (and counting) later I was called "petty" by the abnoxious and arrogant Service Manager because I complained. I am still not sure what car they inspected, but my advice is to keep the $85 and buy yourself a bentley book, because you eventually will need it. The 60 mph question is a good one, and after new struts, balancing, tires, brakes, rotors, and a 4-wheel alignment, it is getting better, or I am noticing it less. A wise man once told me "if you buy a used car you are buying someone elses problems" words to live buy but as they say caveat emptor (sic?)
